A big welcome to our new councillor for Pontesbury Ward, Sarah Wallace Johnson.
"Making a difference to my community is something I would love to be part of, I feel strongly that parish councils are a great way to be more involved with matters that are important on a local level. I have worked in museums for most of my career as a Natural Sciences Conservator and now volunteer for several wildlife organisations in the area such as Natural England, The Friends of Pontesbury Hill & The Stepping Stones Project. Recently I have taken up the position of Project Coordinator for the Middle Marches Community Land Trust's Minsterley Meadows project. Minsterley Meadows has been secured by public donation & a generous grant from the National Lottery Heritage fund. I am keen to be involved with the Green Recovery Strategy for Shropshire and believe parish councils can have a hand in the implementation of some of the actions arising from this, empowering local communities to make a difference to their environment. I have previously been a councillor in the village of Rampton in Cambridgeshire, where I used to live and am now a parish councillor in the village of Minsterley where I live".
There are currently three more parish councillor vacancies. One in Plealey, one in Cruckton and one in Pontesbury ward. If you are interested in being a parish councillor please contact the Parish Clerk: clerk@pontesbury-pc.gov.uk
